360-80 Photography On The Fly

Dev Moretti is a South African photographer who specializes in macro, nature, and marine photography.
Their stunning images capture the intricate beauty of the natural world and highlight the importance of conservation efforts.
Initially based in the Overberg region of South Africa, Dev is also an avid forager and writer who once again calls Cape Town home.

Although not a trained botanist, they spend their time exploring the local flora and fauna, developing a grounded understanding of the natural world around them.
Their passion for foraging began during the COVID-19 pandemic when they would go on walks in and around Struisbaai and L’Agulhas, harvesting seafood and other wild edibles along the way.
As they developed their skills and expanded their knowledge of foraging, Dev began to combine their passions for photography and food, using their images to illustrate the coastal foraging primer they are researching and writing.

Over the next few years, they plan to hone their skills and develop their own unique recipes and cooking techniques, with a focus on sustainable agriculture and land use practices.
Through their blog, “Food From My Earth – Foraging Along the Coast,” Dev shares the information and research they gather to help readers discover the wonders of foraging for themselves.
Whether you’re a seasoned forager or a curious beginner, Dev hopes to inspire, inform, and entertain you with their stunning photography and deep knowledge of the natural world.

You can contribute a Ko-fi or more to Dev’s efforts to share what they learn with other botanists-in-the-making.
